Office of Alumni Association and Foundation

 

Tianjin University is formerly called Peiyang University. In the early years of  Peiyang University, the alumni association actively carried out many activities. In 1913, it had founded alumni associations in Tianjin, Shanghai, Beijing and other places. In the early stage of the Anti-Japanese War in 1937, it had set up alumni associations in 13 provinces and cities, which connected with an Alumni network with wide connections. Alumni of Peiyang University cared for and loved their Alma Mater, and made great contributions to the development of school undertakings. “Loving their county and their Alma Mater” is the worthy tradition of the Peiyang Alumni. In 1984, the alumni association of Tianjin University (Peiyang University) was re-established, and became a legal social corporate body after registration with the National Ministry of Civil Affairs with the permission of Ministry of National Education. Currently, Tianjin University has built 104 alumni associations at home and abroad, with the number of over 200,000 alumni. In order to better connect alumni and serve them, each institute has built secondary alumni connection institutions. And the general Alumni Associations has built special websites and a data base. The basic service and connection network system of alumni has been formed.

 

The Office of Peiyang Education Development Foundation was founded in1995 by Tianjin University, which is a non-public offering foundation with 5A level under the registration of Tianjin Administration Bureau of social organizations. It is a non-profitable jurisdictional association, with Tianjin Education Committee as its competent business unit. The Office of Peiyang Education Development Foundation promotes public welfare and charity, whose public welfare projects are represented by the talent cultivation program, discipline innovation plan, system of promoting quality. The alumni’s annual donations constitute the main part of its public welfare activities. In 2011, the Transparent index of public welfare gained full marks in three consecutive years, ranking in the first place of transparent index of a Chinese Foundation.
